The September Issues

                               THE SEPTEMBER ISSUES

If you know fashion and follow trends, then September is a much anticipated month for you. Major fashion magazines release their larger than life issues that is a look into the fall/winter seasons. Fashion houses advertise and show off their current campaigns. I looked at 6 major magazines and what I found is that summer as bled into the fall/winter with lighter color pallets such as light pinks and tan.
This 2012/13  season we are seeing a mixture of looks that are making their way back. Military inspired garments and Velvet is a popular fabric again. With all the content in all these magazines I singled out 2. Vogue and G.Q (Gentlemen's Quarterly) are my go to magazines and this is what I found in their September Issues.

Vogue always takes risks that always blows people like myself away, they placed Lady Gaga on the cover looking like a statue with far out hair, Gaga said in an interview she was channeling Ru Paul with this look, she has achieved !! The spread of over 900 pages gives THE insiders look in woman's fashion for this season, from Dolce & Gabanna's baroque inspired black and gold heavily embroidered looks to McQueen's outlandish one of kind pieces. This issue does not disappoint in the least, you can easily use this issue as a guide to create looks from an affordable price point with stores like H&M, Forever 21, Target and even JC Penney.
G.Q, my bible and go to magazine has not failed me, it inspires me and helps me, a man who is slow in his own personal style progression push the envelope a little faster. When G.Q endorses a product, they not only show you Tom Ford's or Prada's version but they also show you Aldo's and Banana Republic's version as well, then it is up to you the reader to know where your pocket book will lead you. With colors like red, black, olive and brown this season for men is not as bright as summer was, but color that pops is still the theme. Bright and pattered socks are all the craze, so no matter how dim your look is you can easily introduce that wow and pop  factor.

TOM FORD and why I can't stop talking about him

Lately I have been researching Tom Ford and Tom Ford International for a project in my Fashion Marketing class. I have become even more obsessed with this man and his company. For those who do not know who Tom Ford is, he is an American designer, not only is he just that, but he is a man who revolutionized fashion in the 1990's and brought SEX and SEXUALITYand NUDITY (Male/Female) to the forefront of fashion by re-inventing Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. When his carrier hit a high, he walked away from it all to re-invent himself. Tom Ford International was born in 2005, a brand that is SEX and LUXURY personified. Tom Ford has branded himself so well that he leaves people wanting more and willing to pay for it. Tom takes classic looks and makes them new all over again. He is to me, the ultimate. I don't want to be him, but i'd love to work for him and be part of the of that what it  takes to bring his label "Tom Ford" to the runway and pages of fashion magazines. I can go on and on about him but I won't.

The Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective - Denver 2012

A few weeks ago I visited Denver for my eldest nieces high school graduation (Go USC !!). While in Denver I was so fortunate to be in the same city as the Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective exhibit, this is the exhibits one and only U.S stop. I know what you might be thinking "DENVER !! Really??? " I know I had the same thoughts. But all that aside, it was an amazing exhibit that at one point brought tears to my eyes, for those who know me, I am not a crier. I was so inspired, I was in front of over 200 Houte Couture pieces created by Yves Saint Laurent himself. I was in room after room of just wearable art, hand stitched and carefully crafted pieces. I left the exhibit with my head just wanting to explode from having been there. I was not too pleased with the staff at the Denver Art Museum, they didn't seem fazed with the privilege of being there, instead there was just "Lady" if you will, wearing crocks with socks saying in the most dull and bored mono-tone "Welcome to YSL".... I wanted to jump over  the velvet rope and say, NO !! "Lady" (If you will) this is how it's done "WELCOME TO THE YVES SAINT LAURENT RETROSPECTIVE" (Laurent in my faux French accent). I wanted to smack her with with my remote control looking audio guide for sounding like such a bore. Anyhow, back to the Couture, there were pieces that were extravagant some that changed the face of fashion forever and some that were  "who would wear that?" . All in all, the best $20 spent. I like this whole blog writing thing, I don't know who really reads this, but this serves me as a sort of journal. Anyone at the Denver Art Museum read this??? Please hire me as a greeter, I think the people there are not up to par.

Above are some pictures of what I am talking about. If anyone was wondering what brought tears to my eyes, it was the recreated desk of Yves Saint Laurent. If you read this, THANK YOU !!!

Late last night I received a text from Annel telling me she was obsessed with Jane Fonda, I happen to agree and was planning on posting something about her once I had seen all the looks at Cannes, but when I saw her in the blush pink Pucci, I knew Jane deserved a posting all her own, she's 74 !!!! Fuck, 74, does She have a some kind of age preserving machine that very few know about???? I want one of those !!! Don't you?
Jane, oh Jane, looking the way you do is pretty amazing and against what we all though was possible at that age, looking like a million bucks in couture that not even women half your age can pull off. I salute you and ask, WHAT IS YOUR SECRET !!!!! Rock on JANE FONDA !!!!

P.S
I dedicate this blog to Annel. Thanks for seeing me with Rose Colored lenses and always  ancouraging me to follow my passion !!!!!

Heidi Klum in a 1930's inspired Machesa
Kylie Minogue in Amazing Dolce and  Gabanna  Gold  Perfection

Jessica Chastain in Gucci  is stunning in gold
Eva Longoria is divine  in Marchesa

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2012!!!

These are my picks for best dressed at the Cannes Film Festival. I know Cannes is a playground for the rich and "elite" (I use the term elite loosely) but why are some people there? Kim K. was there and looked great but not worthy of being on MY list because she is not in the realm of the people who attend these festivals. Stars are MADE at this event, the greatest movies in motion picture history are shown here. Eva and Kylie are not in that realm, but they are not the "Butt" of people jokes either. Sorry Kim, maybe when you look fab at the "In Touch" party I will give you props. There are more stars who looked great but these are my best picks. Anyone I am missing? Let me know, I always love a "Who looked best" debate, just an FYI, Kristen Stewart will always be on shit list because she never looks happy to be ANYWHERE !!!

My first endorsements : Red pants for men, I've had a pair of red dockers for some time, I have said red was a color that was going to be popular for men. Now It's EVERYWHERE !! The pair shown are by GAP and affordable, there are pricey versions of the same style pants but I wont go there yet.

Women: Go out and get these shorts at J.Crew.. they are fab and bright. I totally ENDORSE !! the color may be scary for those who are afraid of color, but there are other colors, just try to stay away from black if you can (Unless you have a fab hot pink top that you're going to rock).

Any thoughts? Please comment, even if you don't agree with my endorsements. I think can handle people who have different views.

Number One / Numero Uno

This is my very 1st blog. I figured I would dedicate it to the person who inspires me the most in the fashion. Tom Ford, to me is the most influential in the world of fashion. I have begun this blog to write about things "I Endorse or Don't Endorse". This blog is meant to amuse or inform people. There will be days where I will write about people who should not wear certain things, like big girls in leggings and UGGS...Or days where I see a houte coutre garment and I just want to let everyone know. For some time I have been told by many to blog about what I love (and don't), so here it is. If you find my musings to be funny, please let your friends know, if you have a questions or want advise, please let me know, I would love to help or even if you need a shopping buddy... that's my favorite thing to do !!! This is the beginning !!!
